The people at Bioware have taken all of the best of Chinese mythology and created a world of convincing characters and locations. It's a fantasy setting of spirits, monsters, super villans and gods, yet the characters all have an understanding of the harmony and balance in their world. What makes Jade Empire so special is the fact that it takes itself so seriously. The spirit world has collided with the world of the living and before the game is over it will require the most supreme sacrifice to bring balance and order back to the world. The world of Jade Empire is a world touched by death.literally. It would appear to be a simple course but it is not.

The course of the main character is set, wrongs must be made right, woe to the villans who stand in the way of the avenging student. The martial arts school is attacked, the teacher kidnapped, and all of the students killed. Of course all of this interrupted violently in predictable RPG fashion. There is almost a lazy feel to the game character's existance with all of the worship he/she receives from his/her fellow students and the special attention and care to his/her training that his/her master gives. Jade Empire makes a subtle first impression with it's quiet settings at the start of the game.
